Youth Mobility Scheme

You can apply if you meet the age, nationality and savings requirements. You must usually be aged 18 to 30, or 18 to 35 if you are from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or South Korea.

You must have at least £2,530 in savings. The money must have been available for at least 28 days in a row, and day 28 must be within 31 days of your application.

The earliest you can apply is 6 months before you travel to the UK.

After you apply online, prove your identity and provide your documents, you will usually get a decision within 3 weeks.

You can live and work in the UK for up to 24 months. You can enter, leave and return to the UK while your visa is valid.

You can only extend it if you are from Australia, Canada or New Zealand. The extension is for one year and can only be granted once.

You can study, work in most jobs, and be self-employed or set up a company if your premises are rented, your equipment is not worth more than £5,000, and you do not have employees.

Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Korea have the 18 to 35 age range.

The 18 to 30 age range applies to applicants from Andorra, Iceland, Japan, Monaco, San Marino and Uruguay, and to eligible British overseas citizens, British overseas territories citizens and British nationals overseas.

Applicants from Hong Kong with an SAR passport and applicants from Taiwan must be selected in the ballot before applying.

You cannot apply if you have children under 18 who live with you, children you are financially responsible for, or if you have already been in the UK under the scheme.
